Kopitiam Debuts Singapore’s First AI-Powered Food Court at Mapletree Business City – Featuring Avatar “Kimberly” and Tech-Enabled Convenience At Your Service

Kopitiam launched its most innovative food court at Mapletree Business City (MBC), elevating the dining experience by thoughtfully integrating traditional hawker culture with digital solutions. This new 1,100-seater space with 19 distinct food and drinks stalls serves as a hub for the business community within and around MBC, offering a more convenient, engaging, and hygienic environment for diners.

Tech-enabled F&B Experience at the new Kopitiam @ MBC

Upon entering Kopitiam, diners are welcomed by ‘Kimberly’, a helpful and interactive AI avatar stationed at the display screen, located at the entrance. Kimberly is designed to enhance the visit, offering multilingual assistance including English, Mandarin, Bahasa Melayu, Tamil, Japanese, Korean and even local dialects too. Beyond a stall directory, she provides stall information, helps search menus, offers recommendations based on requests and available promotions, where applicable. To reduce the hassle of locating seats, Kimberly is also linked to a heat map that shows diners available seating.

The tech-enabled experience extends throughout the food court. Diners are greeted by a dynamic ambience created by an overhead large screen that showcases nature (some days you might see trees, other days, fish swimming overhead) for an outside-in experience, vibrant colours on the entrance ceiling, and LED digital menu boards at each stall. To further enhance hygiene and convenience, the food court is equipped with UV-sterilised cutlery caddies and automated, touchless handwashing stations.

Furthermore, the implementation of AI-powered video analytics at Kopitiam will provide valuable insights, ranging from footfall traffic mapping of the space and service queue management, to comprehensive safety monitoring across the food court. This valuable data allows Kopitiam to deploy staff for crowd flow management or cleanliness upkeep during peak hours. Stall owners will also gain visibility into customer patterns, empowering them to make informed decisions regarding manpower planning and to improve service efficiency. This ultimately reduces unnecessary waiting and improves overall service speed, creating a more enjoyable experience for all diners.

Diverse and International Food Offerings

Serving up a diverse mix of international cuisines across 19 stalls, indulge in something for every palate, from Japanese to Korean, Thai, Taiwanese, Mala Tang, Nasi Padang and so much more.

Local favourites await, including Mala Tang and Hainanese Chicken Rice. You can also find Cu Liang Yu Fen, which serves hearty noodle soup with five soup bases choices to choose from: Signature, Mala and Tomato, among others. Their signature luncheon meat fish noodles feature three types of noodles in a creamy, full-bodied broth.

Other must-tries include Western Boy, offering generous portions of juicy Chicken Chops and Chicken Schnitzel with classic sides, and Tanglin Halt Fish Soup, serving comforting Fish Soups, Fried Rice, and Ban Mian. Don’t miss Xiang Chi Mian’s Signature Bak Chor Mee, a rich, umami-packed bowl with springy noodles, pork slices, braised mushrooms, and crispy mini Ngor Hiang which will leave diners craving for more. Kokoro Kiosuku, the sister brand of Kokoro Izakaya and its second stall after a successful debut at Sembawang Shopping Centre, brings you comforting Ramen, Gyozas, and Dons—all at a great value.
