Kopitiam Opens At West Mall
Kopitiam Redefines West Mall with Little Guilin Inspired Food Court,
with Rock Wall Feature, AI Avatar Concierge “Kimberly” and Smart Seating
After successful implementations at Mapletree Business City and VivoCity, Kopitiam is now bringing its innovative, tech-enabled food court concept to the heartlands, at West Mall in Bukit Batok. This new concept is a thoughtful blend of familiar hawker comfort and cutting-edge digital convenience, designed to be a true neighbourhood haven worth visiting.
Step inside and be instantly transported. The mind and body are refreshed when reminded of the beauty of nature, which is why the new outlet features a striking rock wall inspired by the iconic, tranquil granite quarry at Bukit Batok Town Park, better known as Little Guilin. It is an insta-grammable visual centrepiece and an invitation to pause, unwind and find a moment of calm amidst the bustle.
The spacious 458-seat food court houses 19 food and drink stalls, offering diners a treat with a diverse mix of local and international dishes. The selection includes Malaysian specialities like Sarawak kolo mee, Indonesian cuisine such as Ayam Penyet and Nasi Padang, as well as Sichuan-style mala, Thai, Korean, Hong Kong, Japanese and Western specialities.
Among the key stalls are Jubilee’s Hainanese Chicken Rice, Warisan Nasi Padang (featuring dishes like beef rendang), Sunbo Indo BBQ (serving grilled meat and ayam penyet), and Telur Thai (with favourites like pad Thai and green curry). Modern options include Pepper Lunch Express for DIY sizzling hotplate meals, Western Boy for classic comfort food like fish and chips, and Wu Da Lang Old Hot Pot for hearty, shareable hotpots.
Where Tech Meets Taste
Diners entering the new Kopitiam at West Mall will be greeted by “Kimberly”, a helpful and interactive AI concierge stationed at the entrance display screen. “Kimberly” is designed to enhance the dining experience with multilingual assistance in English, Mandarin, Bahasa Melayu, Tamil, Japanese, Korean — and even local dialects.
Beyond a stall directory, “Kimberly” can present stall information, help diners locate their favourite dishes across menus, and recommend options based on preferences or ongoing promotions. The avatar is also linked to a real-time heat map that shows available seating, complete with wayfinding instructions — a feature particularly useful during peak hours.
“As the nation’s leading food court chain, we want to make dining experiences distinct and exciting for our customers. One way we deliver on this is by designing our Kopitiams to reflect the uniqueness of the neighbourhood. Our goal with our West Mall outlet is to offer diners AI-powered convenience and seamlessness through features like our virtual concierge Kimberly, alongside the natural tranquility and serenity of Little Guilin-inspired backdrops and Kompang & Yang Qing tunes. Kopitiam West Mall is a reflection of our commitment to connecting families and delivering joyful food experiences to all in Singapore through food,” Pauline Png, Director & Head of Customer Innovation and Marketing, Food Services, FairPrice Group.
Each stall is equipped with digital menu boards in bright, clear lettering to improve visibility. To improve operational efficiency, Kopitiam has also implemented AI-powered video analytics to support footfall and queue mapping, as well as safety monitoring across the food court. The insights allow the team to manage crowd flow and cleanliness more seamlessly during busy periods. Stall owners can also tap into customer patterns to plan manpower and streamline service, reducing waiting time and improving the overall dining experience.
